Ratings are out of 10, 10/10 is best.
[PSP APP] Coverflow
We've had this before, the perpective looks incorrect like it
still needs some work.
The Coverflow interface Idea doesn't appeal to me at all, I
prefer a list I can quickly flick through instead.
And the low power portion is already covered by lightMP3, which
also has a better UI.
3/10
[PSP APP] Dow! 0.2 - Develop on the go
Coding on the PSP sounds like a moronic idea at best, but coding
LUA? ugh, I think I'm going to be sick.
Atleast it didn't crash on me.
2/10
[PSP App] Emu Loader
Great, a menu for the PSP.
Good use of the psp font system though (sole reason this gets
points).
4/10
[PSP APP] PSP-Maps
A poor mans version of Deniska's MapThis.
Works over wifi though (So you don't have to download all the
maps ahead of time), both an advantage and a disadvantage.
Good use of the connect dialog. Scrolls smoothly etc.
6/10
[PSP APP] LightMP3 Version 2.0.0 BETA 1
Best MP3 player around.
Nuff' Said.
8/10
[PSP APP] Multi Tasker
Like SG57 says, Irrlicht example 9.
Mouse on PSP is a bad idea, I hope less apps do so.
Not sure why I'd want to view 3d models on a psp.
4/10
[PSP APP] VisMP3 Media Library / Visualizer
Pretty, but I don't watch my psp when I play MP3s.
6/10
[PSP APP] Academic Aid Scholastic Suite 6 R769 - Education
I thought we go to school to learn how to do this stuff, not to
learn how to use a calculator. ;)
Nifty app though, not too useful for me.
7/10
[PSP APP] AIO Tuner
No, just No.
We do not need another program that plays sounds when you press
the buttons.
1/10
[PSP APP] 3D GDS
Have had a twiddle with this library, looks fairly usable.
Hard to rate libraries till you've messed with them for a long
while.
4/10
[PSP APP] CTorrentPSP - Torrent client for PSP
I've used CTorrentPSP to leach down some MP3s when not near a
computer, a true life saver!
Combine with PSPFiler so you can move files around after you've
downloaded them.
This will be on my PSP for a long time.
10/10
Top 5:
1. CTorrentPSP - Torrent client for PSP
2. LightMP3 Version 2.0.0 BETA 1
3. Academic Aid Scholastic Suite 6 R769 - Education
4. VisMP3 Media Library / Visualizer

[Review] PSP Apps --- By
M216
CTorrent: 0/10
I don't like torrents but ok. If it would work! But it doesn't!
My PSP Crashes when I want to connect to my Network. The Style
seems good, but style on its own doesn't make the App good.
Coverflow: 0/10
It brings me an error when I start it. And I think thats my
idea. Look at PSPFlow...whatever. Doesn't work -> 0 Points.
DOW!: 1/10
It's totally useless. After 3 lines I could throw my PSP against
the wall. A Luaplayer could be build in, too. Sorry but I can't
develope with it. And whats when I wanna use a pic? Then I must
go to PC and make it.
VisMP3: 3/10
An other MP3 player. I use the XMB. Thats faster to load. It's
simply unimaginatively.
3D GDS: 4/10
The idea is nice but not new. Look at LTE Game engine. This has
much more features and is easyer. And it's only usefull for
Developer. I don't think it will be better then LTE or V3X
anytime.
AIO Tuner: 5/10
For those who play guitarr it's maybe usefull. It works and the
style is not tooo bad.
Multi Tasker: 6/10
Well it'S not hard to make such an App in LTE. 3D Viewing isnt
usefull. When do I want to show 3D Moddels on my PSP? Never! I
can view pics in the XMB, too. Most of the people dont have PS
so PSD isn't usefull, to. Text-Viewing is nice, but it would be
better if there were a option "Open as Textfile" so that I can
also open other filetipes.
PSP Maps: 7/10
The App's not bad but there are almost no functions! A list for
the viewing mode (satellite, roadmap, etc) would be nice, too.
Academic Aid: 8/10
Very nice! Good style and usefull. You can look up everything.
Only the motion support is useless.
Light MP3: 9/10
The best MP3 player I've ever seen! Great style, nice features.
There are some little things linke you can't look at your MP3
Collection while you listen to a song and there is no
virtualiser.
Emu Loader: 9.5/10
Not perfekt but almost! I'm an arcarde gamer and my XMB is
always full of apps. It's what I need. If you don't use emus
you'll find it useles. Well it would be good if you would have a
list wich emus need a BIOS but I ask google.
I allready sorted it by points but the best 5:
1. Emu Loader
2. Light MP3
3. Academic Aid
4. PSP Maps
5. Multi Tasker |

So here is my report:
[PSP APP] Coverflow by sony psp player
I'm getting an error all the time, so i can't try it like I saw
in the preview pics, it looks really well!
[PSP APP] Dow! 0.2 - Develop on the go by bumuckl
This application is nice for developers who want to work on the
go and the snippets are a big help!
The graphics are well done too.
In this version it's just for coding lua, but bumukl said to me
that in the next version there may be options to save it as
.html and .css, too!
In the past, bumuckl released fantastic programmes, like his
famous Bermuda CS series or Motion Pong and now the great Dow!
In my opinion, he's the best german lua coder and maybe the best
in the world!
[PSP App] Emu Loader by TokyoDrift
It's a very simple but though very helpfull programm.
The graphics could be amde better, like showing the big picture
of the emualtor (like you see it in the cross media bar) ,too
and just the gray color is odd, a picture ( maybe with a
gradient or pattern) would be better. ;-)
[PSP APP] PSP-Maps by royale
I just can say: it's a cool idea!
But if I want to zoom, it shows me a repeating picture?!?
[PSP APP] LightMP3 Version 2.0.0 BETA 1 by sakya
You want to listen long to music by using a great programm?
lightMP3 is the best choice! It saves a lot of power and it has
a nice and clear menu.
While playing music, the application shows you a lot of
information, like rating, Time, ganre,... but some of them are
unnecessary.
But when I tried to create a playlist (first i had to find the
right button to go on) I had an error (Your PSP crashed...)!
And I don't know how, but when I went back to the XMB by
clicking the "Home" Button, the CXMB plugin was disabled!
[PSP APP] Multi Tasker by sg57
my PSP freezes when I start it ( tried with both kernels)
[PSP APP] VisMP3 Media Library / Visualizer by arpaagent
The animations and visualizer are great!
It could be a big competitor for lightMP3, but I don't know if
it saves much/any power!
[PSP APP] Academic Aid Scholastic Suite 6 R769 - Education by
Mr305
Academmic Aid is a really usefull app for the PSP with a nice
interface.
It has nice given equations, too,
A must for your PSP ;-)
[PSP APP] AIO Tuner by ai3gtmc
same as with "Muti Tasker"
[PSP APP] 3D GDS by saulotmalo
same as with "Muti Tasker" and "AIO Tuner"
[PSP APP] CTorrentPSP - Torrent client for PSP by danzel
In my opinion it is a very usefull aplicaiotn, especially if you
don't want to run your PC!
I don't use torrent files, but it's a cool programm for the ones
who are using them!
My toplist:
1. Dow! 0.2 - Develop on the go
2. Academic Aid Scholastic Suite 6 R769
3. LightMP3 Version 2.0.0 BETA 1
4. VisMP3 Media Library / Visualizer

[PSP APP] EmuLoader
Description-This homebrew is very nice it is hard to come around
something like this. It is big news to Psp Slim owners like me

to worry about having 200 eboots in your game folder on your xmb
anymore because it is all in 1 eboot. Some people may say 'Hey
what if I cant see what emu i am trying to run" Don't worry
because you can see which system is emulated.
Eboot Look-4.5 out 5.
Compatibility For Psp Slim-Perfect.

Bumuckl! This Homebrew is one of them, I really really love!
Emu Loader: I don't like it very much... It's sometimes so
slowly. But it's usefull.
PSP-Maps: Also a very nice Homebrew. It's very fast an you can
also save your Favourites. It's like Google Earth. Very Nice!
Light MP3 2.00 Beta1: With this Homebrew you can Play your
MP3's. It's louder, than the normal sony Player. Excellent
Homebrew. But I don't use it...
Multi Tasker: Bad Homebrew... I don't like it. I think it's

Review : PSP APPS 2008 neoflash coding compo --- By
pront0
Hello Guys
heres my article to the neoflash coding competition 2008 :
Reviews :
Coverflow:
this applickation is very intresting ,you can see your music
Covers
and of course too listen .
because the good Design and the good coding my 2. place.
Dow:
My favorite Application !
I`m a Lua Coder !
Due to DOW! I can code everywhere
by train, in the car and even on the toilet.^^
For me it is a very useful tool.
Emu Loader:
The Design is very good
But it can be argued about the sence.
I find this App useless.
When I want to start my Emulators then I do it
from the XMB and start it from the memorystick !
but I do not need this homebrew ....
PSP Maps :
A good Homebrew, it pleases me and it makes genuinly fun.
It's pretty fast, but on the small display it's not that good.
LightMp3:
All in all a great Homebrew, but I recommend Cowerflow a little
bit more.
Muslti tasker:
Good application, but it's to hard to control it and not very
noobfriendly.
My place 9
[PSP APP] VisMP3 Media Library / Visualizer:
A good Mp3 player with visual effects. But Cowerflow and
LightMP3 are way better.
[PSP APP] Academic Aid Scholastic Suite 6 R769 - Education:
Its very intresting ..
unfortunately psp`s are forbidden at school
and it cannot replace a calculator!
[PSP APP] AIO Tuner
simply not my case!
if I want to play gituar then I take my giutuar,
and not my PSP System !
[PSP APP] 3d GDS
which I can begin however unfortunately nothing... Huh
the startscreen is unclearly !
[PSP APP] CTorrentPSP - Torrent client for PSP
I don't load torrent on PC and PSP either!
thats illegal ,right?
But good job...

Reviews for the PSP Application section
I scored each app on grafix, usefulness, and most finally does
it work? (DIW). Again each section is out of 10 with each app
resulting in a preliminary score out of 30. An extra 3 points
is up for grabs for an original entry and motion support.
‘Coverflow’ by sony psp player – 0/33
Taking a leaf out of apple’s book this app puts coverflow onto
the psp. Now I use an ipod on a daily basis and coverflow on
the psp would be pretty cool. Unfortunately it just didn’t work
– I kept getting an error message and it wouldn’t load. So;
Grafix: 0/10
Useful: 0/10
DIW: 0/10
Original/Motion: 0/3
‘Dow! 0.2 - Develop on the go’ by bumuckl – 23.5/33
I’ve never coded in Lua, but if you do then this is a very nice
app. Very professional interface with plenty of options. Nice
filebrowser as well. Sometimes is quite difficult to know where
you are as theres no ‘cursor’, but all in all a really nice app.
Grafix: 8/10 – even the splash screens are nice
Useful: 7/10 – develop anywhere anyhow, though its probably more
suited to editing here and there rather than writing a total
project.
DIW: 7/10 – Yup, works with plenty room for new features.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Emu Loader’ by TokyoDrift – 18.5/33
I’m on the fence with this one really. Is it an app? Or is it
just a nicely put together ‘best of emu’. Taking it at face
value its an all in one repository of pretty much every emu put
out for the psp. And yes it is nice to have a one stop shop for
emu’s without loads of them filling up the game menu. But it
would be pointless without including other peoples work (the
actual emus) so its usefulness must be in question.
Grafix: 7/10 – very nice
Useful: 3/10 – heck, I like stand alone apps
DIW: 7/10 – to be fair it def does what it says it does
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘PSP-Maps’ by royale – 24.5/33
I liked this. It worked straight out the box for me and was
quite intuitive with the zoom in and zoom out spot on. Extra
fun showing people in the pub. The address entry worked but the
actual input was a PITA – it needs to make use of the psp’s own
text input. Can save favourites and maps to check offline. You
can also increase the cache to make use of some of your memory
card so it could do with some kind of space checker to see what
the actual available space is. Now obviously you could use
google maps straight from the browser but give that a try and
say goodbye to your psp as you toss it into a canal in
frustration.
Grafix: 7/10 – its using google’s own images pretty much all the
time though.
Useful: 8/10 – I can see this being very useful – integrate a
directions to and from and it’s a winner
DIW: 8/10 – text input needs polishing
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘LightMP3 Version’2.0.0 BETA 1’ by sakya – 21.5/33
Hasn’t this been out like for ever? I know I’ve been using it
for months. At the end of the day it’s the mp3 player for
people who like to play mp3s for more than 18 minutes on their
psps. Use this instead of sony’s and using the psp as a music
player actually makes a bit more sense. Just a pity it can’t
reduce the actual size of the psp as well as reducing the draw
on the battery. A triumph!
Grafix: 5/10
Useful: 10/10
DIW: 5/10- I’m marking this at 5 because its been around for
ever, and if this wins then you may as well enter the latest
build of irshell and have done with it.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Multi Tasker’ by sg57 – 20.5/33
This needs the 1.5 addon to run so slim users are out of luck
unless you use time machine to boot into 1.50. Apart from that
– this is an extremely impressive bit of work. The nearest
thing I can compare it to is irshell crossed with pspfiler
Opens loads of types of files including models and mp3s. Though
unlike irshell and pspfiler it then needs some options to then
‘do’ things with the files that it opens, but a great piece of
brew. Some juttering whilst playing Kanye West mp3s, but maybe
that’s an inbuilt ‘parental control’ feature. I like it.
Grafix: 6/10
Useful: 7/10
DIW: 6/10 – needs shortcut buttons, and does remind me of
windows 95.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘VisMP3 Media Library / Visualizer’ by arpaagent – 19.5/33
Ok, I liked this. Yes, its another mp3 player, but its showing
plenty of promise. The visualizations are novel – but not as
good as Sony’s. The buildings moving across the screen in the
fireworks one are very offputting – good job you can turn them
off. Very customizable. Nice fonts, savable playlists. Good
job.
Grafix: 5/10
Useful: 6/10
DIW: 7/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Academic Aid Scholastic Suite 6 R769 – Education’ by Mr305 –
22.5/33
Well this is too cool for school. I almost wish I was back in
class to use it. As the name says – its an academic aid for
students. You’ve got Calculus, some physics, trig and a simple
calculator. Interface is very nice with the GUI spot on. I’ve
tested some of the equations and the simple ones I did are right
on the money. I tried it on a slim and you do have to press the
brightness button when it starts up, also the splash panels with
the apple logo making the 2nd coming are a bit off putting but
its hard to look beyond this as a very nice piece of work
indeed. It supports the motion kit, but for why I don’t really
see the point. Got to be in with a shout for top spot.
Grafix: 6/10 – some of the fonts are a bit large
Useful: 7/10 – good for the target audience
DIW: 8/10 – liked to have seen more physics type apps but great
nevertheless
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘AIO Tuner’ by ai3gtmc – 19.5/33
Nice simple tuner app – you can test the strings of a violin,
guitar and bass against your real one at home. Guitar seemed
ok, but there is some sound modulation with the bass and I’m not
sure about the violin. Interface nice and simple – though a
clearer font would’ve been nice and some animation of the string
moving might’ve been a bit cooler. Pretty darn good idea
though. Might be nice to have a metronome as a feature as well.
Grafix: 5/10 – needs a better font
Useful: 7/10
DIW: 6/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘3D GDS’ by saulotmalo – 0/33
Tried it on a slim with time machine 1.50, also a fat with the
1.50 addon – unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work. Just
kicks you out to the xmb.
‘CTorrentPSP - Torrent client for PSP’ by danzel – 25.5/33
Yup, it’s a torrent client for the PSP! This is my kinda app –
its simple, clean looking and does exactly what its supposed
to. Open it up, choose a torrent file to start and bobs your
father’s brother. You do need to add whatever torrents to the
torrents folder beforehand though. Download speed is always
going to be an issue so its probably best for mp3 or small
files. Now if you use this in conjunction with pspfiler and
actually move the resulting downloaded files into the correct
folders – you have a brilliant app. In fact thinking about it
you could browse for torrents with the real browser download
them and then copy/paste the file into the correct folder with
pspfiler as well. Room for improvement here. Still a real
contender for best in show.
Grafix: 8/10 – real nice and simple
Useful: 7/10 – great but really needs a file manager
DIW: 9/10 – my #1
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
My top 5:
1. CTorrentPSP
2. PSP-Maps
3. DOW
4. Academic Aid
5. LightMP3
