How big is the neo 2 in 1?

How big is the neo 2 in 1?

Well? How big is it? Huh sm-02

the 2 in 1 itself (without velcro) measures in inches (width x height x depth)
2.625 x 2.5 x 0.5

with the velcro, the entire unit sticks off the back by 0.625 inches (velcro+2in1, not just the velcro), and the 4gig microdrive adds just a tad over 0.5 inches to the height measurement.

4 in pad or 5 in1?

 4 in pad or 5 in1?

ok i have two things to say is the neo thing that has the handle function and the kickstand called the 5 in 1 or the 4 in 1 pad?? Also ive been hearing reports that people are getting bad stuff with the movies and iso's that have to constantly load form the memory stick (like it freezes and jumps). Does the 5 in 1 or 4 in 1 pad whatever its called have better read and write speed so it doesnt jump and freeze when runnings movies/iso's cause those are the main reasons i want them.

I have 2in1 w/ PSP firmware 1.5***:
-I can load and play ISO's with no problem as long as they are a clean dump
-Movies at 300-400kbps seem to run fine (i havnt tried anything higher since there is no reason to for me)
-Songs, pics, other homebrew flawless like before

The Handle with kickstand is the 5in1
The square one (MS,SD,CF) is the 4in1
The square one (MS,CF) is the 2in1

***: firmware 2.0 is said to run movies and other stuff off of the memory stick better, i haven't had a chance to run 2.0 on my PSP but with the preformance i am getting with 1.5 there should be no issues.

some questions about NEO 8in1 PSP PAD…

some questions about NEO 8in1 PSP PAD…

– Can you charge the 4 AA Ni-MH batteries with the pad ? (or that's charge the psp batterry ? )
– Think you written an instruction manual, soon ?
– USB plug on the pad don' t work like cart reader, only the usb plug on psp. that's normal ?

Its my understanding you can charge the batteries in the pad with the USB cable, and that you should be able to access the cards through the USB on the PSP itself. I dont have a pad myself though so its tough to say for certain.

The only manual for it so far is the install manual, and the only info I have really seen on the device is coming from a maxconsoles review:
http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=content&itemid=188

Quote
– The 4in1 Pad an exchange data between PC and PSP through any standard PSP USB
cable. It supports direct SD/MMC/CF/MicroDrive/MS formatting on PSP.
Quote
– Built-in A.I. Ni-MH battery recharge system, with full battery protection and fast full charge within 12 hours.
– Built-in battery charging with forced full charge indication on LED display
– Built-in battery mode switch: You can select Ni-MH batteries or regular battery.

As far as I can see, to transfer files to the memory card of your choice, you still need to hook the PSP USB port to your PC and put the PSP in USB mode.

Have a quick read through the review though, you may see some info in there that can help you figure the device out.

PMP mod 2.0 -fixed for slower media like 4G HDD

PMP mod 2.0 -fixed for slower media like 4G HDD

PMPMod 2.0 was just released in the last day or two, and I have been fiddling with it to see how well it work on my 2in1 with 4Gig microdrive.

I am happy to say that on the max quality setting (used pMenc 0.3 with the muxer from 2.0 instead) there is no longer any stoppage/jitter etc. A very very high quality video muxed to full screen on the PSP is now playing flawlessly off my 4Gig HDD.

From Johnny's homepage (file available there as well)

Quote
First of all, the pmp format is changed.
There is a "remuxer" to convert files from the old format to the new one.
The remuxer is a command line application, the easyest way to use it is to drag and drop files over it (the new file will be written in the same dir of the old one, along with the log file containing the result of the conversion).

And now the changes in this version:

– VBR MP3s are now supported
– Multiple audio streams can be used (use "select" to switch audio streams)
Reading routines are now optimized, the app is fully usable with the harddisk or a slow memstick
– Volume boost (from malloc)
– Fast seek with left/right+cross (from malloc)

Some notes about the reading routines:

Reads are now sequential and asynched.
Users with the fastest sandisk should expect ~0.5 fps gain (the speed gain goes all in the high bitrate scenes, so should be noticeable).
The speed difference between the fastest sandisk and the harddisk is ~0.5 fps.
All the other memsticks are in the middle (for example the standard 32MB Sony memstick is 0.1fps slower than the sandisk).
Performances can be considered aligned now.
The harddisk speed is around 2MB/sec. So, in the worst case, the app can read around 16MBits/sec of video+audios in a "trasparent way" (so, without hitting the general performance).

Thanks Johnny for the awesome update! I for one can say that the PMP container is great when used with this version off a 4G microdrive.

Neo Pad 8 in 1 Question

Neo Pad 8 in 1 Question

Just recieved my pad.  I have a question about the memory.

To my understanding, only one (1) memory card can be used at a time.  However, all the pictures show all the slots being populated with memory cards.  I think the CF/Microdrive slot is the primary.  Is that corrrect?  It seems to me that if there is card in that slot, the PSP will only read that card even if a memory stick is inserted.

I can't seem to get the PSP to read any of the other cards unless all others have been removed first.  Bottom line, only one card should be in the pad to be able to read it.  If you want to use another card, you have to remove all others.  This seems to be very inconvenient.  Is this right or am I missing something?

Is there a way to "switch" between memory cards when more than one is inserted without removing all the other cards?  That would be helpful.

To my understanding, only one (1) memory card can be used at a time.  However, all the pictures show all the slots being populated with memory cards.  I think the CF/Microdrive slot is the primary.  Is that corrrect?   — exactly, the priority is: CF>SD>MS.

you can put all 3 card to the pad,but only can see one card follow this rule.

Neo Pad 8 in 1 no longer able to save games…

Neo Pad 8 in 1 no longer able to save games…

I recently have had my first problem with this wonderful piece of machinery.  My Neo Pad (or rather the included microdrive) lost the ability to load and save games, even autosave doesn't work on games which use that.  It just locks up and the screen stays black until I turn it off. I've already tried reformating the microdrive and that didn't solve it. If anyone could offer me some insight into this issue it'd be much appreciated.  T.I.A.!!!

well, first see if you are emulating the game correctly. some setups may launch the game but contain errors
second would be seeing if you are using devhook to emulate 2.71, since reading from the microdrive is way too slow to handle everything (so the psp hangs when trying to load/save a file that was supposed to be instantaneous)
if these are not the problem, then just warn me

For microdrive users, Format your drive under windows.
open a command prompt(start + run + cmd) and type:
format X: /FS:FAT
where X is, is your drive letter.
when it asks for 64kb, say yes, devhook will work great & the custom firmware works fantastic aswell.
Hope this helps all you datel & microdrive people to there.
let me know if it help you.

devhook 0.45 with neo 4 in 1?!

 devhook 0.45 with neo 4 in 1?!

i just found out about this adapter and was wondering if some of you could asnwer my questions bellow, please?

1. has anyone used this adapter with the new version of the devhook 0.45 (or 0.46) to play isos (of course of your own dumps from your umds)? any issues?

2. have you tried all the different memory cards (mmc, microdrive, etc.) when playing isos with the devhook 03.45 (or 0.46)? any issues with the devhook only working with SD cards but bot with MMC cards (or something like that)?

3. i read a lot of complaints about the cable being really flimsy and easy to break. have they fixed/updated this cable with a better one?

4. is the unit easy to come off if i want to store my psp back in it's case? or could i screw this unit up if i keep attaching and deatching this unit when i want to use it?

thank you all for your input.

— yes it work. but you should check more info from here:  devhook 0.45 with neo 4 in 1?!

Using it with an HDTV

 Using it with an HDTV

Hi everyone!  I have a question: I have a Sony HDTV (KDS-R60XBR1) with a standard memory stick slot to read and display pictures from a camera.  I use Canon cameras which use CF cards.  Can I use the 4-in-1 converter to read my CF cards from my TV's MS slot?  In other words: is this an universal converter or is it just usable with a PSP?  Thanks for any help!

— it should work with you tv as long as you have a MS to MS DUO converted for the PSP4in1

Can it use Ipod Microdrives?

 Can it use Ipod Microdrives?

Can the Neo PSP 8in1 pad use Ipod Microdrives? I'm not talking about using an Ipod as an external USB drive.

Suppose I buy a broken Ipod with a 4 GB hard disk, can I open it and use the Microdrive with the Neo PSP Pad?

Oh, and if I buy a 6 GB hard disk, what would happen since the PSP is limited to 4 GB memory cards?

If it is an Ipod Mini's microdrive it should be a Hitachi 4GB or a Seagate. so yes that would work with the neopad.

neopad wont charge my psp, is it deffective?

neopad wont charge my psp, is it deffective?

alright i read the other post about battery charging problems and there isnt a real solution to it.  also those post were written 6 months ago.   i cant get the neo pad to charge my psp when the psp batteries die.  so i tested it out.  the neo pad puts out4.07v with the switched turn off,  and 5.45 volts with it on.  the sony adapter that charges psp puts out 5.42  volts.  so the problem  doesnt seem to be there.  when i plug in my neo psp pad to the psp and turn switch to on to charge it or run it when battery dies it wont turn on(but i do get orange light) .  i tried hitting the mode button and again nothing happens.  how do u know when the pad is in force recharge mode cause my led(on the pad) doesnt do anything when i hit the mode button or turn the switch on or  off for that matter.  my recharge batteries are full y wont the psp use my pad batteries to operate.  can someone please explain how the heck to get the pads batteries to power the psp.
one more thing i left the pad pluged into the psp all night and the psp orange charge light was on all night.  when i woke up the battery was at 1 bar if that.  how long does it that thing to to charge the psp.

— [1] i think your PSP battery is dead, you should try to use one new PSP battery.
[2] you can swap the power switch to other side (like on or off) , maybe can help.
[3] need charge 15 hours for a full battery charge.
[4] you can press the fast charge button at left-up corner ,then you can see the charge LED will flash very soon, then it mean the force charge is starting.

hope these answer can help you.
